September 21, 2007 - Day 24

Notes:

Not all from the 21st, but that is when I posted...

Pole barn concrete has now been saw cut so no nasty looking cracks later on. Just waiting for the 28 day curing process to complete so I can epoxy the floor.

Basement demolition work completed for the most part. I don't think I am ripping anything else down but will be tearing up the carpet at some point. I water sealed some of the basement walls that they didn't seal before because of storage stuff in the way. Also finally started framing up walls to hold electrical and drywall. Well I got one wall done at least, I couldn't do the part I just sealed as the sealer was drying too slowly.

Overall this is going slower than I hoped, I think I am running down a little. My day tends to start around 6AM when I crawl out of bed and then somewhere between 6:30AM and about 8AM I start working my day job, then around 5 or 6 I shoot out to the Villa and start working on that until do so until Midnight or so and then back home and hopefully sleeping by 1AM-1:30AM. Then you get nights like tonight where I need to get the progress posted for family, friends, etc. I'll sleep when I'm dead I suspect. :)

Basement

I never understood the wall layout they put in here. From my point of view I was losing something like 200 sq feet due to poor wall placement plus there were so many places that the walls weren't properly braced, you will see it in the pics. Plus some of the walls, the drywall was done so poorly it would have been nigh impossible to finish it so it looked decent, so I ripped out some walls and some more storage shelves and changed where walls will be in the basement. Also that door in the first few pics was being held there by 3 little nails...

Now you see the amazing annoying wall...

Now you don't...

Note the 2x4's and the white painted lines indicated where walls will likely be. You will see those designs changed a little after I spoke with my brother on the central boiler stuff and pretended the walls were there and was walking around them.

Time to get back some more room... Going to rip out those shelves as well as part of that wall there...

Walls and storage gone...

Finally, getting to work on the home office area... There were large storage areas but they didn't seal the way behind the shelves so I did it.

Shelves gone, but no sealer yet.

All sealed up against the water. Not that I am aware of any water leakagee there, but I am not sure there isn't.

Already framing up walls for electrical and plumbing. Again, couldn't do the walls to the left there as they are still drying.
